This shows off "pure 70s style music" This is a must have. I remember watching this movie when I was little and I enjoyed the music back then as well. This soundtrack was just as great as the movie. If you enjoyed the movie, youll love this cd. Theres nothing better then hearing your beloved songs on one cd. I recommend this CD for both the young and the young at heart. I admit, I hadnt even been born when "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" came out in the theatres, but I have seen it countless times on television and now I own the DVD and CD soundtrack! This is a great recording, and I think the songs are so happy and fun, you just cant help singing along! Bricusse and Newley have created a wonderful soundtrack, that will long be a classic. ![]() If you have not heard it, and you like the movie, then it is a definite purchase. I have always enjoyed the music of Leslie Bricusse and this is not disappointing. But that wasn't close to all parents at the time many of whom were so appalled by the nasty edge to the story and screenplay that they failed to grasp the score's They got more than they bargained for almost too much in terms of its appeal at the time in an immensely tuneful score by Leslie Bricusse with delightful fantasy-laced lyrics by Anthony Newley wrapped up in a film that appealed to the more worldly perceptions of children and to parents who recalled that side of themselves. The movie's producers were trying for a musical along the lines of Mary Poppins or Chitty Chitty Bang Bang that is something that could appeal to children but not bore adults and vice versa depending upon how one approached it.
